11e cave

11e Cave was a tiny underground bar in an old bank vault beneath the building at the corner of Eyre and Kennedy Streets in Kingston, Canberra. Inspired by small French cellar bars, it focused on simple snacks, wines and cocktails in an intimate setting, with the red door providing its low-key entrance.

The venue’s offering included seasonal house drinks, natural-leaning wines, cocktails, charcuterie, cheese and small share plates. It was designed for a pre- or post-dinner drink, a relaxed light dinner or an easy night of grazing with a playlist in the background. The related food approach centred on regularly changing small plates, cooking over fire and coals, vegetables, foraged ingredients and nose-to-tail cooking, although the menu could vary considerably from one visit to the next.

11e Cave has now permanently closed, along with Onzieme. The website thanks visitors for their support and directs people interested in future pop-ups, events or projects to the mailing list. Its former walk-in-only format and cellar setting made it best suited to casual drinks and small groups, but it is no longer available as a current venue.
