45 90 Framing & Gallery is a specialist picture-framing shop and contemporary art gallery in Kingston, Canberra. The venue works with photographs, prints, paintings, documents, textiles, memorabilia and three-dimensional objects, offering both ready-made options and custom designs. Framing is completed on-site at the workshop on Giles Street, with staff helping customers choose combinations that complement and protect the artwork rather than overwhelm it.

The gallery has a distinct focus on Lowbrow, Pop-surrealism and Street Art, with limited and open-edition prints from artists in Australia and overseas. Its changing display includes work by artists such as Christopher Lee, Casey Weldon, Mark Ryden, Brian Ewing, Ben Allen, Kozyndan and Canberra artist Cohen Gum. The venue also carries pre-packed prints through Creative CBR, including work by local artists, so visitors can browse pieces to take home or have framed in-store. Some custom furniture and quirky accessories by Pink Flamingo Interiors are also featured.

The framing service ranges from photo frames, mat cutting and glass replacement to canvas stretching, exhibition framing, conservation work, shadow boxes, mirror framing and repairs. The team can create ornate, contemporary, timber or decorative frames, along with custom-painted mats and designs using conservation glass and acid-free materials where required. Examples on the gallery site show highly individual treatments, including layered mats, float mounting, sidewalls, vintage-style finishes and statement frames tailored to particular prints.

45 90 opened in Kingston in October 2016. Owner and picture framer Stephanie brings more than a decade of framing experience and a background in photography and printing, working alongside Ron and Max. The team uses a computerised mat cutter and carries out the design, construction and finishing on-site. It suits anyone looking to frame a special piece, refresh an existing frame or discover unusual art, whether browsing alone, visiting with friends or choosing artwork for a home or collection.
