Why it's worth checking out
Abode Woden is a self-contained, apartment-style hotel in Canberra’s south, located at 10 Bowes Street in Woden. The property has 152 rooms and is set in a former government building that was the first hotel in Australia to receive a Green Star rating from the Green Building Council of Australia. It is positioned within walking distance of shopping and dining precincts, entertainment venues and public transport, with Canberra Hospital, the Parliamentary Triangle, Canberra CBD and Canberra International Airport all accessible by car.
The accommodation is designed for both short visits and longer stays, with room types ranging from Studio and King Studio rooms to Executive Studios, Deluxe King Studios, Family Studios and Two Bedroom Apartments. Depending on the room, features include a kitchenette, refrigerator, cooktop, dishwasher, oven or microwave, tea and coffee facilities, air conditioning or heating, a washer and dryer, rainfall shower and complimentary unlimited Wi-Fi. Google STAYCAST streaming is available, while some King Studios are wheelchair accessible. Family rooms include bunk beds, and the two-bedroom apartments can accommodate flexible sleeping arrangements, making the property suitable for families, couples, solo travellers and groups needing more space.
For meals and essentials, No.10 Restaurant + Bar is located on the ground floor and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in a relaxed setting. Guests can dine in, order from the takeaway menu or have food delivered to their room. The restaurant’s website highlights a seasonal breakfast menu using locally sourced ingredients, as well as dishes including Miso Baked Eggplant and Four Cheese Arancini. An Abode Pantry is also available for selected food, drinks, snacks, frozen meals and travel essentials, with an online ordering option for delivery to guest rooms.
Abode Woden also caters for business stays and events, with meeting rooms and conferencing space suitable for small to large conferences. Reception is open daily from 7am to 10pm, with check-in from 2pm and check-out by 10am. There is no on-site parking, although paid parking is available across the road. The hotel is not pet-friendly, but assistance dogs are welcome. Its combination of apartment-style facilities, on-site dining, family room options and conference space makes it a practical base for work trips, family stays and longer Canberra visits.
