Cafe Gather

Cafe Gather is a Braddon cafe built around a clear idea: bringing people, regional produce and hospitality together. The team describes the venue as sustainable, local, healthy, community-driven and relational, with food intended to feel like part of a healthy experience rather than a transaction. It offers dine-in and takeaway, making it suitable for a relaxed meal, a coffee break or something to take with you around Canberra.

The food and drinks focus on produce sourced from the ACT and surrounding regions. Seasonal vegetables and fruit come from Fyshwick suppliers, while eggs are sourced from an organic free-range farm in Boorowa, milk comes from Picton, and trout is supplied from the Snowy Mountains and smoked in-house over green tea leaves. Bread comes from Three Mills and Sonoma bakeries, and the cafe uses mushrooms from Gooda Creek near Murrumbateman. Micro herbs are grown at Ainslie Urban Farm, less than two kilometres from the venue, adding another local connection to the offering.

Coffee is made with a house blend developed from Ethiopian, Brazilian and Colombian beans and roasted by local Braddon roasters. The drinks program also includes kombucha, kefir and juice made in-house, developed by Jose, a chemical engineer from Spain, alongside proprietor Will. This emphasis on house-made beverages and carefully identified suppliers gives the menu a strong sense of place, with ingredients linked to Canberra, the surrounding region and the people who produce them.

Behind Cafe Gather is a group of friends with a shared love of hospitality.
