Why it's worth checking out

Eddison Park is a 14-hectare public park on Launceston Street in Phillip, within Canberra’s Woden area. Its distinctive radial layout is arranged around a central ornamental pond, creating a series of separate spaces rather than one uninterrupted expanse. Large Candlebark trees remain on the site, representing woodland that predates European settlement in the area.

The park also carries an important local wartime story. The Eddison family owned the Yamba property before Woden was developed, and two memorials commemorate the three Eddison brothers who died during World War II. The park is used for local ANZAC services, giving the setting a strong connection to remembrance and the district’s earlier history.

For recreation, the site includes a skate plaza, play equipment and a performance area, along with picnic tables, electric barbecues, toilets and cycleway access. Dogs are permitted on leads. These facilities make it a practical choice for families, small groups and visitors wanting a place to pause outdoors, while the layout and heritage features also give solo walkers plenty to look at. It can be reached on foot from Callam Offices or by car via Launceston Street, with parking available at the Eddison Park car park.
