Grease Monkey Woden brings the Canberra-born burger, beer and shake concept to Woden, serving a broad menu from a former mechanic’s garage. The setting gives the restaurant a distinct industrial character, while the offering is designed for people who want more than a standard burger stop: alongside burgers, there is Detroit-style pizza, fried chicken, hot dogs, snacks, bowls, desserts and drinks including beer, wine, cocktails and the venue’s well-known milkshakes.
The burger list covers several styles, from the straightforward Greasy with beef, cheese, pickles and the house sauces, to the Greasy Vegan made with a Love Buds patty and vegan cheese. Other named options include the Dirty Bird with southern fried chicken, the Nimbin with crumbed portobello mushroom, and the Firebird, which adds spicy chicken, mac and cheese and jalapeño. For a larger appetite, the Double Deluxe, Smash Test and multi-patty Pile Up offer more substantial combinations. Burgers are served with chips, and the menu also includes a cheeseburger for anyone after something simpler.
The pizza selection is made in a Detroit style and is available by the slice, regular or family size. Choices range from the spicy Spitfire and meat-heavy Meatlover to the vegetarian Continental and vegan Tesla, with plenty of other combinations in between. Greasy Fried Chicken can be ordered in different serves, while the sides include loaded fries, truffle mac and cheese bites, jalapeño poppers, hot wings, onion rings and cheesy garlic bread. There are also salads and bowls, including a fried chicken Caesar and the vegetarian Super Bowl with haloumi and quinoa.
There is practical choice for different groups. Little Chimps meals provide child-sized beef burgers, chicken burgers, nuggets and pizza, making the menu suitable for families, while vegan and vegetarian dishes give mixed groups more flexibility. Desserts include a sweet slice, chocolate nut brownie and New York cheesecake. Grease Monkey offers online takeaway ordering and table reservations, which is useful whether you are picking up food, meeting friends for a casual meal or organising a larger gathering. The venue also caters for corporate and private events, with the website inviting enquiries for functions of different sizes.
