Why it's worth checking out

Gungahlin Gymnastics is a gymnastics club serving Canberra families, children and adults from two fully equipped facilities in Mitchell. Its programs cover a broad range of ages and experience levels, from parent-led Kindergym sessions for toddlers through to school-age Foundations classes, adult gymnastics and school holiday programs. Children can join age- and school-year groups including Tiny Tumblers, Junior Tumblers, Springers, Bounders, Jumpers, Balancers and Twisters, while the holiday program is open to children from Kindy through to 13 years old, including those who are not club members and have no previous gymnastics experience.

The club’s approach is centred on participation, enjoyment and steady development rather than perfection. Its stated aim is to use gymnastics to build qualities such as resilience, confidence, determination, perseverance, respect and friendship, alongside physical skills. Fun is described as the program’s main value, with reduced training hours and a focus on growth and effort intended to support long-term involvement in physical activity. That makes the venue a suitable option for families looking for structured movement and skill development, as well as adults who want to improve strength, flexibility and confidence in a supportive setting.

Adult Gymnastics is tailored to each participant’s goals, whether they are returning to the sport, learning a handstand or cartwheel for the first time, or simply looking to move and build fitness. Sessions include drills and skills work with guidance from the coaching team, and adults can try three casual classes before committing to a longer pass. Children and families can also use the new-student trial option to see whether the club is a good fit before enrolling.

Gungahlin Gymnastics was founded by Canberra locals Joel and Megan Moss in 2015. Joel is a former elite gymnast who represented Australia internationally, while Megan brings experience in sports administration and dance teaching. The club has since grown from two coaches and 20 classes to a team of more than 60 coaches across almost 300 classes. Its Dacre Street and Lysaght Street centres are heated during Canberra’s cooler months, and parents or guardians can watch classes from designated waiting and seating areas.

The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.3 from 40 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
