Lanyon Vikings

Lanyon Vikings is a club-style venue in Conder, serving the Tuggeranong and wider south Canberra community with food, drinks, recreation and family facilities. Its main dining space, Lanyon Bistro, is open for lunch and dinner, with a broad bistro menu that includes chicken schnittys, burgers and other familiar favourites. The room looks across the local oval towards the Brindabella mountains, giving the dining area a distinctly local setting rather than a purely indoor club feel.

For a more casual stop, Moo+Brew Cafe opens from late morning and is set up for meeting friends or settling in for a coffee and something sweet. Its offering includes fresh sandwiches, cakes, slices and tarts, alongside iced chocolate, hot chocolate, tea and barista-made coffee. That makes it a useful option for a daytime catch-up, a light bite or a solo visit before or after activities in the area.

Families are catered for with an indoor kids’ play area, while the wider venue includes a sports bar, gaming lounge, TAB and Keno. Lanyon Vikings also hosts regular food and club promotions, including weekday lunch offers, themed schnitty, steak and parmi nights, a Friday lucky-dip raffle and Sunday kids’ meals. These events give regular visitors different reasons to return, although the venue also works as a straightforward place for a meal, coffee or drink.

The club has roots in Tuggeranong’s sporting community. It grew from a group of rugby union enthusiasts who met for a drink in 1976, with the first Vikings club opening in 1979. Today, the broader Vikings organisation supports sporting and community groups across Canberra’s south, including affiliated clubs, athletes and local programs. Lanyon Vikings reflects that role as a social meeting point for families, sporting groups and local residents. It is open seven days, with the bistro serving lunch and dinner and the cafe operating from 11am until late; venue trading hours vary across the week.
