Leumeah Lodge

Leumeah Lodge is a practical base in Belconnen, Canberra, positioned just off the Barton Highway in the Gold Creek Tourist Precinct. It combines hotel accommodation for individuals, corporate guests and families with purpose-built facilities for school, sporting and other group stays. The lodge is within walking distance of cafes, restaurants and attractions around Gold Creek Square, while Canberra’s CBD and the wider region are only a short drive away.

For group organisers, the lodge can accommodate up to 300 guests across bunk and hotel-style rooms. Student rooms sit near hotel-style supervisor rooms, and group facilities include common rooms, leader resources, 24-hour site monitoring and support staff available around the clock. Catering is available through full meal packages, with the team able to work with dietary requirements and more complex menu needs. Optional supervisor services include alternate meals, coffee and free Wi-Fi.

The 23 hotel rooms range from queen rooms to larger family rooms and a self-contained apartment. They include tea and coffee-making facilities, toiletries, a flat-screen television and free Wi-Fi, while group rooms are individually air conditioned and have three-way ensuite bathrooms. Reception is listed as open from 8am to 8pm, and guests can also request continental breakfast hampers. The accommodation is suited to families exploring the precinct, individuals visiting Canberra, corporate travellers and organised groups needing on-site dining and structured facilities.

A major drawcard for families is the Gold Creek Family Adventure Package, which can be added to an accommodation booking. The associated ticket provides full-day access to Cockington Green Gardens, the Canberra Walk-In Aviary, Canberra Reptile Zoo and the National Dinosaur Museum. These nearby attractions cover miniature displays, Australian and international birds, reptiles and dinosaur exhibits, making the package a useful option for families planning several Gold Creek activities in one day. Tickets are an add-on rather than part of the accommodation-only price.

Leumeah Lodge is operated by the YMCA of Canberra, with profits from its accommodation facilities supporting community programs, including work with people with disabilities and older community members. The organisation is accredited as a child-safe facility with the Australian Childhood Foundation. The lodge was awarded Bronze in the Standard Accommodation category at the 2018 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards, presented in 2019.
