The Vault

The Vault is a distinctive event venue in Fyshwick’s Dairy Road precinct, set inside a window-free, pillar-free concrete bunker that was originally built to store coins and later used to house beer. Today, the 780-square-metre space is available for presentations, parties, creative programs, markets and curated events, with a standing capacity of up to 1,000 people. Its industrial setting and temporary future give it a character that is quite different from a conventional function room.

The venue is designed as a blank canvas, so each event can shape the space differently. The Vault has hosted or promoted immersive audio-visual experiences, art performances, creative gigs, roller discos and food-focused markets, and includes a 17-metre screen for large-scale visual presentations. A purpose-built nine-metre bar can cater for wines, beers and cocktails, while furniture, sound, lighting and projection packages are available to discuss as part of a hire. Heating, bins and a standard surface clean are included in the venue’s listed hire offering, with event management and additional cleaning available where required.

For organisers, the layout allows plenty of flexibility: the venue can accommodate a large dance floor or be fitted out for a smaller exhibition-style experience, depending on the program. There is on-site parking, a nearby garden that may be available depending on construction works, and access to bathrooms in the neighbouring building, including an accessible toilet and baby-change facilities. Wheelchair access is available through a roller door, although accessibility features vary by event, so visitors with specific requirements are encouraged to contact the venue manager in advance.

The Vault suits organisers looking for a substantial, adaptable setting for a private party, wedding, presentation, performance, market or immersive installation. It also hosts public events, so visitors should check the event calendar and the individual organiser’s ticketing information before attending.
