UC Refectory is a large-scale live music venue in Civic, Canberra, designed for major touring shows, festivals and high-energy nights. The indoor standing space can be configured for crowds of more than 1,700, making it Canberra’s largest indoor standing venue according to its website. Its broad floor, high ceilings and pop-up bar are suited to big audiences, while professional staging, a premium PA and in-house technical support are in place for substantial sound and lighting productions.
The venue has hosted national and international acts including Spacey Jane, The Rubens, Lime Cordiale and The Amity Affliction, and is also associated with Stonefest, the long-running festival that has brought prominent Australian artists to Canberra for more than 20 years. The programme is not limited to established headliners: UC Live x also promotes opportunities for local and emerging performers, with live music sessions spanning solo acoustic artists and small groups.
For a different scale of event, the wider UC Live x precinct includes the UC Hub, an adaptable room for intimate gigs, DJ nights, comedy and other performances. The Hub can accommodate up to 500 people standing or 275 seated, with a full PA, LED screen and in-house technical support. This gives the programme some variety, from close-up performances to crowded touring shows, although the Refectory itself is primarily a standing concert space. Limited bar stools and seating may sometimes be available at the back.
UC Refectory is best suited to concert-goers attending a particular tour, festival or event, whether arriving alone or with friends. Some shows are all-ages, with under-18 availability stated when applicable, so families and younger music fans should check the individual event listing before buying tickets. Official UCLive x tickets are sold through Moshtix, and show-specific set times are published through the event page and the venue’s social channels. The Refectory is in Building 1, Level B; public parking is accessed via College Street, and accessible toilets are available inside the venue. Concerts generally do not offer pass-outs, and outside food, drinks and recording equipment are not permitted.
Spot Score
The Spot Score is our composite of five signals — two about the venue's standing with visitors and three about how complete and current this listing is. It is not a visitor rating and not a verdict on the food or the experience. The 4.3 from 277 reviews is Google's visitor rating, shown separately and never altered by us.
